It is very important that you understand the different types of photography styles so you get to know which one is right for you.
We have a list of some of the different styles of photography for your better understanding, if you are willing to pursue it as a course or if you have to select one for your wedding–
Wedding photo albums are full of traditional shots that are priceless. These are posed shots such as group pictures of the couple with their families and friends. This style captures real moments in a guarded way. The main motto is to achieve “key shots” of the day and timeless photos of the couple together with family and friends. The photographer takes control in this style by guiding and directing the poses.
Candid style of wedding photography is quite popular these days. The photographer captures live moments and has a lot of ideas to make the event fun for the couple and the family. It is kind of non-posed photography.
Some photographers are experts of artificial lighting and some would prefer using a camera flash. A Photographer may use the natural light found in a setting, usually daylight which gives a warm and natural look. Other photographer may be skilled to deal with shadows, strobes or flashguns to mimic sunlight.
This style is considered to be formal wedding photography. It includes close up shots of the bride or groom individually or of the happy couple having a moment. It is a best way to capture a sincere moment. It can be staged or spontaneous. High quality portraits are most admired by the couple.
The trend of pre and post wedding photography is quite recent but it has a major advantage. During pre-wedding photography the couple and the photographer get to know each other and also get comfortable which makes the whole process easy for both the parties. Also if there are some shots that couldn’t be captured properly during the wedding ceremony due to rush, crowd or insufficient time; it can be done later during post wedding photography.
This style is a latest addition to wedding photography but this baby is quite in demand too. It gives you a breath taking bird-eye view of the event. It is great to shoot outdoor wedding locations or the couple in beautiful scenarios.
While choosing a Wedding Photographer you must take in account his photography style and competence. You can opt for purely one style of photography at your wedding or you can ask him/her to spice it up and mix all the different styles to get a perfect blend of lasting photographs.
